Product Description

Get a great workout in your home with the quiet and smooth Horizon T74 treadmill, which can reach speeds up to 12 miles per hour. Perfect for rigorous training routines, the T74 has a 2.5 horsepower incline motor with a 0 to 12-percent grade and speed increments of 0.5 mph. The SmartBoard computer console has an orange backlit LCD and separate speed and incline LED display windows, as well as a full menu of easy-to-access control buttons. It includes eight preset programs--manual, interval, rolling, weight loss, hills, two custom programs, and a heart rate zone. It also offers a built-in fan to keep you cool and running longer and contact heart rate monitors built into the handles.

The T74 is easily storable, thanks to Horizon's exclusive Featherlight lift, which incorporates two hydraulic shocks to assist you when raising and lowering the deck. They even hold the deck in place above 45 degrees, eliminating drops. The ultra-compact, fold-on-nose design is the safest, easiest in its class.

The Horizon Quietdrive system use an integrated digital drive for fast, accurate control. Its continuous duty motor--the same type found in health club units--also incorporates large magnets to keep the RPM low, which translates to a quieter motor that will run longer and generate more power than other treadmill motors.

About Treadmills
Walking is still considered one of the most beneficial cardiovascular exercises for people of all ages, body types, and fitness levels. As a fundamental form of aerobic training, walking has numerous physical benefits for the heart, lungs, and circulatory system, while also increasing muscle tone and burning fat calories. Treadmills provide a convenient way to regularly exercise in all weather conditions in the comfort and safety of your own home.

From beginners just starting an exercise regimen to advanced athletes looking to maintain their fitness level, anyone interested in getting and staying in shape can benefit greatly from regular use of a treadmill. Treadmills allow you to determine the pace, distance, and complexity of the workout based on your needs, all while watching television, talking on the telephone, or reading a magazine. Much easier on sensitive joints like the knees and hips, treadmill walking and running surfaces are typically long, padded platforms that allow ample room for a long stride and comfortable, low-impact walk or jog without the harsh contact of a concrete surface.

While many different types, styles, and price ranges of treadmills exist, many of them offer unique features like a fold-up design for easy storage, an electronic display monitor showing speed, distance, workout time, incline level, and burned calories, and EKG grip pulses to monitor the heart rate while exercising. Regardless of the simple to complex features you may choose, treadmills offer an array of aerobic exercise opportunities that will provide long-lasting beneficial cardiovascular results without a commute to the gym or a jog in the rain.

Easy on the knees

I work out at some of the local gyms, and recently got into jogging. I noticed that some of the treadmills really beat up my forty-five-year-old knees, while others were much easier on them. I checked out some treadmill models at different fitness stores, and found them to be nice and cushy, but the ones I liked were over $2,000.00. I would have loved to have given them my business, but I could not afford it.
After doing a lot of research, mostly online, I decided to take a chance on the Horizon T74 Treadmill.
So far, after a couple of months, it has not disappointed me. I am not one to care about controls and fancy computer programs, I just need comfort and some ability to control the speed, along with an incline feature, which it possesses.
Yes, this treadmill is as good as any I have run on in the different fitness centers, and was one heck of a lot cheaper than those in the fitness equipment stores. It has all of the features I need, especially the "fold-away" feature which allows you to lift the ramp vertical and roll the whole thing into a corner, where it does not take up much space.
Great product. Hopefully, it has good long-term durability, it seems very sturdy.

I'm certainly no expert when it comes to treadmills but I will certainly sing the praises of my new machine. I just got it yesterday and found that my husband was able to assemble it in just under an hour. It seems very solid and well made.

I haven't been on a treadmill since college 7 years ago so I will admit that I probably missed the changes in technology. However, I was impressed with the fan and cup holders... the ones I was accustomed to (professional grade, no less!) were minus these handy dandy accessories. I also love the built it book holder which is slim enough to keep the pages of my fat book open. I love the idea of the key needed to start. This I keep out of reach of my small children. It doesn't matter if they try to mess around with the treadmill-- they can't get seriously injured without the key to start it!

The machine itself is very quiet... even when it is inclining and declining it does so softly. Maybe it's because I lack the sound of a loud gym or maybe it's the difference of prof vs comm grade... or perhaps the 60 lbs I'm trying to lose that weren't there the last time I ran on a treadmill-- regardless of the reason, though the machine is quiet, my footsteps seem to echo throughout the entire house.

My biggest problem came with the delivery of the machine. It arrived in splendid condition... but the truck company sent to deliver this-- they didn't bring a dolly. He pulled his giant moving van size truck into my townhome's teeny tiny parking lot (narrowly missing my vehicle!!!) and taking out a few tree branches along the way and pulled it down (there was no ramp so it just thudded 4 feet to the ground) and managed with my help to push it through my back gate... all of 6 feet it was moved... before it was left out in my backyard--IN THE RAIN!!!! I had to call my husband home from work to help me. The only way to get it into the house was to open the box and bring it in piece by piece. Fortunately the rain let up and nothing was damaged.

THE BOX HAS A PICTURE OF A FORKLIFT AND SAYS "MECHANICAL LIFT ONLY!!!" AND THEY FAIL TO BRING A DOLLY??????????????????????

Other than mine and my husbands broken backs, this was a great experience... no tax, no shipping (though I would have paid it if it meant it would actually be brought completely to the door!!!) and a great price!!!

Reviewer: S. Tran,
Although we did not purchase this particular model, ours still works great after more than two years. We bought ours directly from the manufacturer. It was a refurbished model, part of the C series ('Club'--performs similar to those in fitness centers). We use our treadmill on a daily basis and naturally had some minor wear and tear that were remedied by customer service. Each time we contacted them, we were given professional and exceptional service. They take time to listen and patiently walk you through instructions. You will not be disappointed with a Horizon. Just remember to register it; warranty will come in handy. We did not have to pay for a new motor!
Completely Satisfied

I found the cost of $699 w/free delivery and no sales tax for a treadmill of this quality too good to pass up. It was delivered within three days of ordering it. The container in perfect condition. I had it assembled and was knocking out my first mile in less than an hour. I had no help and I am not very patient when it comes to putting things together. The control panel only 'looks' overwhelming - it's actually very easy to use. The unit is very solid and runs smoothly and quietly. I am very satisfied with this purchase.
Works great!

Machine works great. Everything I needed. I had a similar problem with the shipping that others have mentioned, but the product itself was fairly simple to assemble and works great. I use it almost every day now.

first off, i bought this tradmill back in january of this year and only now am staring to use it! the shipping was excellent (the driver not so much) as their was no damage to the box at all. I unpacked it a fews days after delivery to 'check out what i bought' and then left it alone for another few weeks while i ..... well no real reason but laziness. then after finally putting it together - the motor starts, but the top-panel doesnt. argh. so a few more weeks go by before i call horizon c.s. (their hours are really odd btw) but once i reach them, they were fantastic! they shipped me replacement parts with no questions asked. upon receipt of the parts (unexpectedly via next day courier) i realized that i had no idea what to do with them so another few weeks (read: months) i called again and they sent a tech out at no charge to assist me. turns out, one of the wires i hooked up was not done correctly, so the whole time it was my fault but they still did not ask for a service call fee. most excellent!! now that i am using t, it feels solid and well built. the console controls take some learning to understand and use, but that is to be expected. i really like this unit and horizon fitness is great to work with!

The machine was finally received after refusing the first due to damage. The second also had the shipping carton absolutely destroyed but after inspection by the delivery man and us we determined that everything was present and undamaged. We had a little trouble assembling due to some of the bolts or sockets having either paint on them or threads not cut cleanly. After assembly the machine operated up to our expections. The one thing that was noted was the quietness when in operation. It is also compact in size compared to our old one, an advantage for us.

I bought this in April. Easy to put together, did it myself. We did have a problem with the machine. Called Horizon and they had a repair person out in a few days. Something went wrong with the control panel. I saw where someone complained about their customer service, but I thought they were fantastic. Very friendly and helpful on the phone. No long wait to talk to anyone. I widh I could remeber the lady that I talked to. She deserves a thank you. After the repair it has worked great. My wife uses it every day. It has lots of options and is quiet. If wasn't for the problem with the control panel, I would have given this a 5 star.
solid machine

Reviewer: E. A. Jones,
I'm a first-time treadmill owner, so some of what I cover here may be "old news" to people who have bought treadmills before.

Because of bad weather and seasonal allergies, I wasn't able to get outside and walk as much as I wanted or needed. I'd used treadmills at the gym before and decided I'd like to have one in the living room, where I can watch TV or listen to music while walking.

The first thing I discovered was the measurements listed for this treadmill were quite misleading. This is a very large machine! It is 60 inches tall, 70 inches long, and 40 inches wide. The width is mostly in the console and armrests/handles - the treadmill itself is closer to 30 inches wide. You will need plenty of room for this machine to fit comfortably, so give yourself 90 inches in length and 50 inches in width when measuring to see if it will fit in your room.

I'm only 5 feet tall, so the large console prevents me from being able to see the TV while on the treadmill. While I do like the console, especially the large buttons and cup holders, there was no need for the console to be quite so big. There are two cup holders, two holders for miscellaneous items, and quite a bit of unused space. Reducing down to one cup holder and one misc. holder, plus making it a little shorter and narrower, would have been a great improvement. The console is easily my least favorite part of the machine.

The treadmill itself works very well. It's easy to adjust the speed and incline, the heart rate monitors work quickly and easily, and the on-off button and safety keys are intuitive and well-placed. The treadmill itself moves smoothly and evenly, and was easy to adjust and put together. I really enjoy using the treadmill and am much more inclined to exercise now. It's comfortable and the arm rests are at the perfect height.

However, the treadmill does have some strange noises. There's a grinding noise when it's used on 0% incline, but increasing to even 0.5% incline gets rid of the grinding. We traced the noise to a plastic piece rubbing against the motor belt, and there's nothing to be done about it, although it's easy to "fix" by adjusting the incline. There's also some kind of random squeaking, which isn't too loud, but we cannot find the source of the noise.

The biggest problem was one of the arm rests. It had a small crack in it, which was leaking a clear oil-like fluid. Getting a replacement was a bit of a hassle. I emailed Horizon and was told I had to call, they couldn't handle the situation through email. I called Horizon and no one would answer the phone - instead they had a taped message stating they were too busy and I had to leave my name and number for someone to call back. After 10 days, no one had called back so I emailed again, and this time they were able to handle the replacement through email. I got a replacement arm rest, but it's not exactly the same as the one that came with the treadmill, so we'll have to go to the hardware store to get the remaining parts.

All in all I am very glad I got this treadmill. I researched reviews online for months before choosing this one, and I don't regret it one bit. However, I have learned treadmills are sometimes rather fussy and noisy, and as a prospective first-time buyer I would have liked to know these details first.

Reviewer: S. Schwaid,
The equipment arrived on the date promised, in very good packaging.
Assembly of the unit was generally easy, but poor quality control in two areas prevented me from finishing the assembly immediately. On one of the handlebars, the nut that is spot welded into the handlebar tube was welded in too deep, and weld spatter got into the threads, so I was not able to mount that handlebar. Fortunately, I am quite handy, and have a machine shop at my company, so I was able to clean out the threads (OF COURSE it's a metric thread!). Upon assembling, I found that the mounting screw did not reach the nut (as mentioned earlier), so I could not use the washer and lockwasher for final assembly.
The treadmill itself is very satisfying so far. It is quiet, very smooth and the control panel is quite intuitive and easy to use. The fan could be angled a little better - it hits my abs and lower chest, not my face.
